Grandes nombres darán la salida al Critérium du Dauphiné, que se disputará entre este domingo y el próximo día 12, una carrera que, como es tradición, es imprescindible para muchos corredores que pretenden estar en el Tour de Francia (1 al 24 de julio) para terminar su preparación.
Inevitablemente, los candidatos a la victoria en la Grande Bloucle, a excepción de Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates), estarán presentes, partiendo desde el principio con el que se apunta como principal rival del esloveno ganador de las dos últimas ediciones del Tour, su compatriota Primoz Roglic. Al líder del Jumbo-Visma se unirán Jonas Vingegaard, subcampeón del Tour 2021, Wout Van Aert, Rohan Dennis y Christophe Laporte.
Entre otros favoritos encontramos a David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ), Enric Mas (Movistar) y Ben O’Connor (AG2R Citroën), o incluso a Jack Haig y Damiano Caruso (Bahrain Victorious), Brandon McNulty (UAE Emirates), Tao Geoghegan Hart (Ineos Grenadiers), Wilco Kelderman (Bora-Hansgrohe).

También estarán velocistas o cazadores de etapas como Dylan Groenewegen (BikeExchange-Jayco), Ethan Hayter y Michal Kwiatkowski (Ineos Grenadiers), Dylan Teuns (Bahrain Victorious), Warren Barguil (Arkea-Samsic), Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo) y Mark Padun (EF Education-EasyPost), sin olvidar al campeón mundial de contrarreloj Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers), que apunta principalmente a ganar en el cuarto día.
El australiano Richie Porte (Ineos Grenadiers), defenderá el título de 2021, y Chris Froome buscará seguir evolucionando para asegurarse un lugar en el Tour con el Israel-Premier Tech.
El recorrido incluye tres llegadas en alto, en Chastreix-Sancy el tercer día, en Vaujany, en una etapa reina que incluye Galibier y Croix-de-Fer, y en Plateau de Solaison (11,3 km al 9,2%) en la último viaje.
Una larga contrarreloj de 31,9 kilómetros también estará en el programa a mitad de semana, mientras que los velocistas y los clásicos clásicos también tendrán sus oportunidades.
